With a bike-share program the community has a better alternative to buses and cars. Rental bikes give a better way to travel since they are better for the community and the environment. Actually there are no serious problems that have developed in the many years the bike-share programs have been present(7). The Washington Post has an article that states that cyclist head injuries have gone down 14% and overall cyclist injuries have gone down 28% since the bike-share program was added(4). That means that people got use to all the bikes and less people are getting hurt which means the danger levels will go down for bike riders! Another concern is competition. Many people fight getting a bike-share program by saying that it will cause already existing bike shops, that rent out bikes, out of business.
