If the goal is to design and build a custom bike-share system, all the individual aspects would have to be factored in. These include key components of successful bike share programs like: bike tracking systems, clearly designated bicycles, intuitive payment systems, convenient bike-rack locations, and secure bike locks. Locating and acquiring these materials could prove rather taxing, pricey and time consuming. Once these factors are collected, assembling the system will require a good deal of labor. The same can be said for installation. So, while constructing a custom bike-share system would not fall out of reach, there are other more efficient solutions. Namely options offered by businesses similar to ON Bike Share and Republic Bike. These businesses offer affordable custom bike share program supplies that are easy to assemble and install. First, this proposal would need to be presented to the UNCW Office of Facilities to be reviewed. If approved, the next phase of this project would be to use a chosen method to collect the data listed previously. Analyzation of this data will give a more accurate indication of the amount of funding required. Next, funding for the project would need to be raised to cover all the expenses. The assembly of the system would follow this. Finally, the UNCW Offices of Facilities and Auxiliary Services would be requested to inspect the final product.
