Describe the (a) physical structure (what they looked like) and (b) abiotic conditions (e.g. rainfall & temperature) for each of these habitats:
(1) Forest surrounding the administration building at Bijagual
a. The forest had a variety of vegetation occupying different heights in the forest. There was an abundant amount of epiphytic plants, like bromeliads, growing on the trees. There were also multiple rivers and waterfalls in the forest. The topography of the land changed from flat land to steep hills. The Forest was dense along the edges, but opened up in some areas deeper into the forest. The forest floor was covered in leaf litter.
b. Temperature was in the 60’s. It rained almost every day, but not for the whole day. The air was very moist and it was humid when the sun came out. The cloud cover varied depending on if it was going to rain; somedays there wasn’t a cloud in sky and other days clouds covered the sky.
(2) High elevation forest seen during the Quetzal walk
a. The forest seemed to have trees of mostly the same height with smaller vegetation growing near the ground. The forest had many hills and inclines with a few flat areas. There was a lot of moss growing on the trees and rocks. There was also a large opening further into the forest that was filled with
