Kimberly Day 3/22/15 Journal #5 The top two reasons a student in college flunks or drops out of classes are because they don’t have time management skills or they are not financially responsible. Luckily for me, I am very strict with myself in both of these categories, as I feel they share equal importance to a student’s life. During my college years it is crucial that I keep a close eye on my bank statements and maintain my time management effectively if I want to be included in the numbers of students who succeed. For me, being a single mother puts a massive hold on my financial status, especially during this time of my life.…

But failures are not all bad; in fact, I believe that they bring more positive outcomes than negative. They are not permanent and they are not self-defining, failures do not identify my worth or abilities, but rather present opportunities for growth. They are simply obstacles, roadblocks, as well as stepping-stones, to success. Without the obstacles that I have faced and overcome in my life, I would not have experienced personal growth to the extent that I am glad to say I have accomplished. Some failures seem worth defining and diminishing to my personal…

I believed I worked hard and I should have been able to accomplish this goal of mine. I worked hard throughout the summer and tried my hardest to keep up with the other girls so I would make Varsity.…

Thank you for sharing an honest, open post with us all. Our order of the seven risks are different, although, I understand why you feel as you do. Shame is something that I have personally battled throughout my life, still do today. According to Fields, shame is a feeling that is “deep-rooted,” resulting from distressing circumstances, such as: “sexual, physical, and emotional abuse” (2017, p. 164). The research papers presented showed me that the topic of the paper does not have to be particularly controversial, as long as it has an argument it can be considered a research paper. The papers include facts, stay on topic, and thoroughly explain their topic before going into the main argument. For example, in the Yoga Take Over paper, there is some background information provided to set up for the argument. It is obvious that all these students did research(another reason it is called a research paper), that is evident in the lengthy works cited pages on the very end of all provided, and the numerous quotes that are spread throughout the…
