Biggers Native Son Argumentative Essay

Decent Essays
The works publicizes the censored representation of Biggers: Native Son demonstrates the injustice of American criminal justice system. This is shown in Bigger’s case that was predetermined before it even went to court: by the loophole of racism. Communicating that any black man who kills a white woman is guilty despite the factual circumstances.Wright depicts a judiciary so crippled by racial nepotism and dishonesty that the concept of equality holds little, to no meaning.

On August 9th, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson were walking in the middle of the street when they were approached by a police officer by the name of Darren Wilson. With there being altered stories explaining what happened next rather than choosing one side of the story we can agree that an altercation occurred and it led to the unfortunate death of eighteen year old Michael Brown. Because of the differing stories and videos online, I will not focus on whether I feel like the killing of Michael Brown was justified, but whether the process to indict/or not to indict Officer Darren Wilson was justified and not flawed. Beginning as soon as you read the table of contents of the DOJ report on the Ferguson Police Department…

He is deserving of a monumental plaque to commemorate his contributions to Kansas. Samuel Newitt Wood was a true hero who put Chase County on the map and not only spoke his beliefs of a free Kansas, the right for women to vote, anti-corruption, but truly lived his beliefs if even it it meant ridicule or loss of life.…

Corey Turner remembers collecting participation trophies from the YMCA soccer program he was involved in as a young athlete. These trophies are now sitting in a dusty box somewhere in his parent's basement. This leads him to question whether or not young athletes should receive trophies for just showing up. Corey Turner is not alone, people across the nation have debated this issue for as long as youth sports have been in existence. I believe that kids should not get trophies for participating because kids should learn life lessons from both wins and losses and participation trophies do more harm than good.…

Richard Wright lived in the 1930 's, a time when blacks and whites were rigidly separated, and, despite the struggle, the stereotypes of black people included a life of crime and destruction. Wright tells the story of Native Son mainly to raise social awareness to the rising problem of racial differences. Despite the strength of the overlying message of racial tension, intertwined within the story is a subliminal yet unmistakable message of sexism, specifically the discrimination of women and the damaging effect this suppression has on its female victims. The physical abuse inflicted upon Mary and Bessie by the men in Native Son represents the objectification of women and power men have over women in a patriarchal society .…
