It was recommended by the DEA, FDA, and the AMA that steroids should not be treated the same as illicit drugs. Congress completely disregarded this recommendation and passed the anabolic steroid control act. I believe this action showed the moral wrongness that people had towards steroids, mostly in relation to sports, despite hard proof of health issues attached to it. When it comes to sports if people really think the use of steroids is unethical then yes it should be restricted for use in such cases, but that does not mean it needs to be made illegal for all.
