One of the major themes that I found in Learning and the Arts through the Ages was the idea that “Stories stimulate not just the imagination but also our ability to organize a range of material into coherent units that make sense on an emotional and rational level” (Egan 1988). The author is saying that creativity is not just imagination it is an organizational pattern of creative thoughts. Which allows you to take random events throughout the day and be able to organize them in a meaningful way.

It influences my thoughts about teaching because it makes me realize how important it is to explore thoughts and ideas, and to not be afraid to express yourself. Children should be free to express themselves without having to worry about being judged or made fun of.
The second quote that really influences my thinking is “Creative acts incorporate previous learning and experiences as well as new expressions” (Matlock and Hornstein pg 4). As a teacher I enjoy this quotes because it shows you that you can use creativity in any aspect of your classroom. Being creative can open up new doors for your students learning and imagination.

The one question I have is about making language portable, I honestly just do not understand what that means, or how to go about doing that.
