Some of the negatives to enforcing this policy on all students is the loss of their autonomy. Autonomy is one's right to make govern over themselves. In this case, it is the student's right to understand the consequences and act as they feel needed. Making this is policy infringes on this policy. Another thought that many people are fearful of, espoeccially in football, is the fear that these policies will change the game. Football is a rough sport and many people like it that way. The thrill of a big tackle is one that many enjoy. By making the game more safe it might change that way football is viewed and played (Academy, 2015). While I do understand that their are some cons to having a strict policy in place, I think that the positives outweigh the consequences. One positive is that it is keeping people safe or in other words preventing harm, nonmaleficence. As young adults we are impulsive and do not think in the long term without guidelines a lot of kids can be seriously injured and even at an increased risk of death. Another positive that would come out of these new protocols is by putting these policies in place we are keeping student safe in the long term but also backing the meaning of a student-athlete up.
