The main objective of the project is to analyse the big five personality traits of Great Lakes institute of management’s student community. And then to apply the results to predict the student behaviour and their competency levels associated with the student community.
Introduction to big five theory:
Big five personality theory is a commonly used personality model in psychology. It is a theoretical framework to understand the general components of personality that seem important in social and interpersonal interactions with others. Big five theory is basically evolved to find out why man behaves the way he does and what differentiates him from other person
The big five was originally derived in the 1970’s by two independent research teams – Paul costa and Robert McCrae (National Institutes of Health), warren Norman (University of Michigan) and Lewis Goldberg (University of Oregon). They took slightly different ways, but arrived at the same result that most human personality traits can be boiled down to five broad personality dimensions regardless of language or culture. Here the researchers did not set out to find five dimensions, but it emerged from their analysis of data.

Conscientiousness people are highly efficient and organized. They also exhibit a tendency to be neat, systematic and to prefer planned activities rather than spontaneous activities. These individuals are generally hard-working and reliable. When taken to an extreme, they may also be "workaholics", perfectionists, and compulsive in their behaviour. People who score low on conscientiousness tend to be more laid back, less goal-oriented, and less driven by success and they also are more likely to engage in antisocial and criminal behaviour
