Try to position your culture and one other culture you know well against the ‘Big Five’.
Big Five theory in psychology shows what are the dimensions or different facets that make up a person's personality. The dimensions and different facets are different factors of person’s personality that everyone has at different levels. The five factors of personality (Big Five) are: Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism and Openness to experience.
In this case, will be analyzed and compared the traces of Portuguese and German culture.

The intercultural communication is relevant, in a global business world, and aims to understand how individuals from different cultures communicate. The intercultural communication is something that is possible to be learned. In order to be effective, during the primary socialization process, it is important to be aware of cultural differences. One must be aware that what is considered wrong in a culture might be completely normal in another culture, there’s no right or wrong, only different perspectives.

Being flexible, a flexible person easily adapts to other cultures. This is, in my opinion, the most important characteristic when dealing with people of different cultures. It is important because the process of adaptation between cultures is smoother and the communications flows.
Empathy, it is a powerful tool that allows two or more people to interact profitably. Basically, it is through empathy that the bridges of communication are created between individuals. Not always the way we choose to convey an idea is enough for it to be perfectly understood by our recipient. Thus, empathy has everything to do with the words we choose and the way we organize to communicate our ideas. If we have something to say, it is essential to know not only how pass the idea, but also make it understandable by those who hear us.
Politeness, showing good manners toward others, as in behavior, speech, etc. which transmits to others a feeling of security and comfort which transforms communication easier and more effective.
Being patient, is a characteristic that helps maintaining a balanced emotional control, without losing calm when facing major cultural differences. It is the ability to endure discomforts and difficulties in multicultural
