Big Bend Over Spring Break Analysis

Decent Essays
There is a lot to expect when going somewhere unknown. There is that sense of excitement about going somewhere, but there is also the sense of fear along with it. There is also a sense of wonderment and awe when learning something new along the way. What I hope to get out of this experience going to Big Bend over spring break is quite simple. What I hope to get out of this experience is to learn something about the environment and the actions I take that will ultimately impact our land we call Earth. Being metacognitive over what I do and eventually sharing to different people what can be done to keep Earth healthy and beautiful as it should be.
What I hope to get out of this experience is to learn something about the group that I’m with.

Inside the park there are reams of activities to enjoy including hiking, biking, camping, fishing , kayaking, and even becoming a Junior park ranger. My family stayed in the park in one of the many cabins you can rent. I went horseback riding in the park on the first day we were there. It was such a splendid experience. It was highly informational because we were led by a park ranger who knew about the land and animals who inhabit the region.…

Although it is expected that this retreat is only for Latinos since it is hosted by the CLAC, anyone from any race can go because although the retreat is Latino-oriented it is not Latino exclusive. There is an application that every potential participant must fill out and the participants are chosen based on their responses on the application. Because of limited space, not everyone is allowed to go but I was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the participants.…

Animals are a very important factor contributing to the well-being of human lives and this has been the case for decades in history. There have been many situations where animals help humans with their emotions and guide them through life. Take for instance seeing eye dogs that help those who are blind get around and can sense their emotions. There is a similar situation in the book, End of Summer by John Lowry Lamb, between the protagonist Nick and a cat named The Ghost. As we delve into the novel, the trauma from a devastating car accident his parents are in blur Nick’s sense of reality.…

For me the activity of working as a group especially with other individuals who I have not worked with or talked to before was a good learning experience that had both positive and negative outcomes using Driscoll’s model of reflection as a frame work to elaborate on how I interpreted what happened, what impact the situation had on me and what I will do in the future if presented with a similar situation (Driscoll and Teh, 2001). We were required to do a 10 minute presentation for a health promotion project that we developed. I decided to work with other individuals who I didn’t know and have not worked with before as I believed I would be more productive and respectful if I worked with people I didn’t know very well. For the first tutorial…

were given time to work on our group projects. I love that I will be doing my book report and group project about The New Jim Crow because I am passionate about the criminal justice system and advocating for those who are unfairly treated in the justice system. For my groups project, Chloe Mortley, Carmen Brown, and I are supposed to create a Xavier magazine and do a 15-minute presentation. I like that there are only three people in my group because this means that finding a meeting time will be somewhat easy and that we will have different ideas to implement in our project.…

I know you wanted me to revise my research essay because I did not have parenthetical citations, but during my writing center visit I asked about those and I learned where they should be and how they should look. When I revised my papers I tried to think about the questions someone else who is not familiar with the topics would ask about my papers and I answered them.…

During and after the group project I got a better understanding of NAVAL and a better understanding of my group. For example, Lexi is the leader of the group and Camille is the worker bee meaning that she is the one to go to for the information about the presentation. There were many high points in the group such as when we completed are power point early and when we researched the information. I had a blast working with them. A low point was when the video couldn’t load and we had to start from scratch again.…

The importance of the discussions with the other groups was that we learned about the different opinions that the different groups at the Convention had, and how we could work together to get what we want. Another lesson I learned was that you have to be careful when bartering with other groups, because you don’t want to give away some of your group’s plans, or reveal something that could cause them to go against you. The factions we used impacted the Convention because we included the slaves even when they were not really represented, and…

T-Group Reflection two: Final Thoughts Looking back at the at the eleven sessions we had this semester I think I learned a lot from my fellow group members and facilitator. I went into T-group skeptical and not willing to talk about myself with others. After a few sessions, I still felt unwilling, but I felt like as a group we were growing and bonding together. Now that T-group is over I feel a little sad, it was nice being able to distract myself from my own problems and struggles for at least an hour and fifteen minutes a week.…

As part of the ritualistic nature of group therapy, it is important to garner participation from all that are involved. In relation to group dynamics, there are those who are more extroverted and ready to share their stories, as well as those who are introverted and tend to avoid participation. Being able to utilize personality types in conjunction with transference feeds the ability of those who are introverted to speak out among the group without fear of being an outcast (Phillips, 2004). More often than not, it is the ability to openly address personal problems within a group or rather in front of a group, which allows one to build strength needed to handle problematic issues more effectively (AGPA, 2007) As a means of transference,…
