Reflective Essay: The Big Five Inventory

Improved Essays
I am surprised by some of the scores that I received in the Big Five Inventory. The acronym for CANOE stands for the five different categories in the inventory. For example, c stands for conscientiousness. I scored 38 points out of 45 possible points. Then a stands for agreeableness on the inventory. I ended up scoring 36 points on the inventory out of 45 points. Next is the letter n which stands for neuroticism. I scored 29 points in this category, out of 40 possible points. The letter o stands for openness, and I scored 37 points out of 50 points. The last letter e stands for extroversion, I scored 26 points out of 40 possible points. Overall, I scored relatively high in all categories of the Inventory. When I break each of the categories …show more content…
This is another category that I can stick with the results because I identify myself with the three textbook adjectives. I continue to be soft-hearted since I show sympathy and compassion for those around me. One adjective my friends and family would use to describe me is trusting. People who know me usually vent or share sensitive thoughts or even whimsical memories with me. Throughout my entire life I can say I model helpful actions to others. I was in the Kiwanis club for middle and high school, now I moved into the college level service club. When my youth group needed people to step up and take on responsibility I took the chance to help out in any way that I …show more content…
Again I agree with two of the three adjectives that are used in the upper half of the category. Overall I desire not to have variety within my life. I choose to create a schedule and sticking to it, however, I have those moments where I spontaneously like to have a bit of variety throughout my day. The other two descriptions are imaginative and independent. I can agree with both of these adjectives because I think outside the box at times, and try to do many tasks on my own. I can see a limit to how far I can reach and when I may need help from others, but this does not stop me in

I am not one to brag. I have no reason to. Bragging is, in my opinion, a selfish way to assert oneself and make oneself seem better than another. There is really no point, and it almost never leads to another person respecting you. People gain respect through their actions and through their experience, not through what they say about themselves.…

Learning to write When I attended elementary school, part of the curriculum was penmanship. There was a certain segment of instruction dedicated to penmanship rather than writing. We were given large sheets of oat colored paper with three parallel lines widely spaced. The alphabets were used to print and write in cursive using the midpoint, and upper lines for capital letters. The handwriting grades were based on neatness and readability.…

“I have to go here, dad. I just have to,” I told my father during our first tour of Colorado Mesa University’s campus. “I already feel like a Maverick,” I admitted as I straightened out my new CMU ball cap from the campus bookstore. It was a strange feeling knowing that I would no longer be Lakeland High School’s most spirited student, but there was excitement in knowing that I would soon show my pride for Colorado Mesa. Images of my blue and white spirit wear quickly changed to be maroon and gold.…

Extraversion was the segment, which I scored the least on (7 out of 10). I fully agree with this being my weakest of the five sections, as I have the tendency to be a loner. I am a friendly individual; on the other hand I do not view myself as completely being sociable. I usually am quite person, until I am comfortable with the people around me and depending on the situation I am in. The negative aspect with reference to not being an extrovert is that it can hold me back from meeting new people, shy away from outing or new…
