Introduction Bicycles are beginning to be a favourite way of transportation for many people all over the world. It is simple to make, easy to use, cheap, requires no fuel and easy to maintain, which is what we look for- cheap way of transportation from one place to another. There are cities all over the world where instead of cars people use bicycles a lot, and we don’t have to look far away as Amsterdam is known to be a ‘City of Bikes’. Also “Norway has announced that it will spend 8 billion Norwegian Kroner, or about $935 million, on a network of bike highways” (Bicycling. 2016). It is estimated that today there are two billion bikes in use and that by 2050 that number could rise to five billion.

Industry Analysis
The Irish Bicycle Business Association is the Irish trade body representing cycling retailers and businesses within the cycling market in the Republic of Ireland. “The association represents the key stakeholders in the bicycle industry, worth over €260m per year in the Republic of Ireland” (ibba (no date) Home). Motorists don’t respect the bike on the road and see it as just an inconvenience for them. From the research the main issues that we found out were that people don’t find it safe to cycle on the roads and that it’s too stressful due to the volume of traffic which defeats the purpose of cycling in the first place as a way of destressing.” The main barrier to cycling in this country is the perception that our roads are too dangerous and uncomfortable, largely due to high volumes and high speeds of motor traffic” (Cycling Embassy of Great Britain. 2015).
