Biblical Worldview Reflection

Decent Essays
Over the next eight weeks, I hope to strengthen my Biblical Worldview so that I can take what I have learned and share it with others, both non-believers and believers. I know that what I believe and why I believe it impacts everything that I do, so from this class I hope to gain more knowledge and wisdom in the Christian faith through the study of its doctrine. I was a bit apprehensive about taking this class but realize that this is the best way to study theology, in a community setting. As a father, I want to be able to help my children read the Word of God with context and hopefully this class will afford me with greater wisdom to do that. As a member of the military, I have personal hardships that I hope to handle better through the knowledge

As the body of Christ (the Church) redefined itself again and again throughout history, believers were hard-pressed to embrace and work through the multiple denominations amongst them. Fast-forward centuries and thousands of denominations later, and we find the Church at odds against the idea (or the classification) of evangelicalism. In Kevin J. Vanhoozer and Daniel J. Treier’s Theology and the Mirrors of Scripture: A Mere Evangelical Account, they raise the awareness that the problem of evangelicalism lies in the fact that there are no set doctrines that form a whole theology accepted by those who call themselves evangelicals or even other believers, as one would expect from a popular form of Christian denomination (i.e.: Calvinism, Baptist, Presbyterianism, etc.). The authors then liken Scripture to a mirror in order to illustrate the reflection (connection) between the Triune God…

I believe you perfectly summed up how as Christians it is our responsibility to follow God first and then to use our biblical worldview in the field of psychology. We may never fully understand how our brains function or exactly how the brain controls behaviors, but we can show others the love of God while helping them. Proverbs 2:6 states “For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding” (New King James Version). As Christians, we need to seek God’s wisdom first, before we help others. Discernment for us is very important before we try to “fix” someone else’s issues that they are encountering.…

Coming into this class at the beginning of the semester, I was very confused about the subject of “truth”. Over the past few years, my definition of this word had changed dramatically. I had hoped that taking a deeper look into worldviews would help me create a contrast between what I did and did not believe, and if I could find the truth of Christianity which had been eluding me for so long. In this course, I found that the topics of Classical Christian Theism, Deism, Traditionalism, New Age Philosophy, and Postmodernism had all influenced my own, current understanding. And, through studying these, I realized how I had arrived at my current beliefs, and how to continue my journey for truth.…
