Biblical Viewpoint of Homosexuality When viewing homosexuality from a Biblical perspective, it is easy to see that the practice of having sex while being gay or lesbian is a sin. In Leviticus 18 verse 22 it says, "Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable" (Leviticus 18:22, New International Version). This verse makes it ever so clear that the practice of having sex with the same gender is sinful and is detestable to God. It is important to note that this verse is condemning the sin and not the sinner. It specifically states that "laying with a man as you would with a woman." This means that God hates the sin of having sexual relations with the same sex, but He does not hate the sinner. Many homosexuals and those who advocate for it claim that Christians and people with Biblical morals and values only hate on gay and lesbian individuals. This is simply not the case. Although many people around the world do hate on homosexual people, Christians and those who believe in God simply state that having sexual relations with the same sex is the sin, along with being obviously abnormal and unnatural. Another reason that homosexual marriage and the practice of sexual relations with the same sex should not be allowed is because in Genesis 1:27-28 it says, "So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.
