Jesus brings good news to the poor, and the church should do the same thing.
He came to rescue and heal the broken people of the era. Throughout the Old Testament and the New Testament, the scripture argues how the rich cannot inherit the heaven while the poor can. The scripture says that mocking the poor is insulting the Maker since they are part of the Christ’s body. As a consequence, the Bible encourages Christians to give to the poor and help them. His ministry targeted the poor people who were neglected and oppressed. In Matthew 9:12-13 says, “On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” (NIV).
