The book “Chronicle of a Death Foretold” written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a book that had taken place in the Middle East. It was a small town that had it 's own laws and its own way of surviving. The people in this town are kept to their race, until one day one person from a race accused another person from a different race of rape. “In Chronicles of a Death Foretold” Marquez uses biblical allusions when Santiago wears all white, when the angel passes by, and when Santiago was murdered to prove he died for his belief in the importance of a woman 's purity. “My sister felt the angel pass by. She thought once more about the good fortune…” (p.18) The is fortune is associated with Santiago. Santiago dies in order to preserve Angela’s and even Flora’s honor. Angels are a big part of the bible they are messengers and can also be a living human being that is a priest or a prophet. I’s sister seeing the angel was showing that Santiago has lived for his purpose on earth and that it was time to go “home”. Angels are more known as guardian angels and/or angel of protection. Santiago’s angel was seen right before the murder, meaning that the angel was there to protect him up until the time God had called him home. Not once did Santiago feared what was going on around him, he kept moving throughout his day having faith in God. In the spiritual world God allows trials to come your way to test your faith. “And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Even when he saw that the people around town were acting different he still never let them get off track. He was never warned about what was gonna happen to him until the day of the murder and when he was notified about it, it was too late. “He had a deep stab in the right hand. The report says: “It looked like a stigma of the crucified Christ.””(p.75) The wounds went through his palms coupled with the gashes on his sides made him appear with much likeness to Jesus during his crucifixion. “Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water” Jesus was crucified on the cross and he was stabbed in the left and right hands as well as his feet.
