Bible On Homosexuality

Homosexuality is, and always has been a controversial topic. A good number of arguments have been presented from both sides (those supporting and those opposed to homosexual union) with either giving solid arguments to support their views. Today, people are divided over the issue of homosexuality with Christian Churches opposing and others in the society supporting homosexuals. Regardless of which position people take on homosexuality, it can be argued that the Bible and Church in the West have had a significant impact on people’s views.
According to the two readings, it is possible that Bible readings concerning homosexuality may have been poorly interpreted, resulting in the negative attitudes towards homosexuality and homosexuals. While the Bible in some cases tends to be very clear on Homosexuality, as is the case in Leviticus 18:22, which says "Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. For instance, today, homosexuality is understood to be as a result of various genetic and social factors, which was not known in those times. This is an important point that can be used to understand why homosexuality may not have been widely accepted as is the case today.
During the Biblical times, the general idea was that men should be with women, desiring to have relations with women for procreation and to make a family etc. For this reason, homosexuality was viewed as abnormal and unacceptable. However, through science and sociological studies, we now know that homosexuality is as a result of various factors, which helps us have a better understanding and become more accepting.
