There are many characteristics that can be seen throughout the church. These characteristics can define the church in a good or bad way depending on how they are portrayed. Just as the characteristics in our life define us and influence the way people view us the same is true of the way people view the church. People are going look at how well you are excelling in certain areas of life or how poorly you are doing in other areas. So as a church, the leaders tend to make sure they are up to date and are continually growing in the characteristics or habits established in the church. Some of the characteristics to look at in the church are: community, commotion, commitment, communication, and conversions. From these a church can thrive but can …show more content…
In Psalms 133:1 it says “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”(Bible Gateway). Not only is it right to care for others, but it even says it in the Bible to live in unity with people. So when looking at this characteristic we should not just see it as, it is the right thing to do, but see it as something God planned for us to do in honor of him. Throughout the Bible community is a relative theme (Jeff). We can first see community in the Trinity, God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (Jeff). This idea comes into play because the Trinity is, or God is forming His creation and by making it He is creating a community (Jeff). Life groups are groups of people that meet once a week to challenge their faith but also to have a supportive and caring group of people to do life. With these life groups people can help tend to the need of others and be there when they need some support. Some examples of this would be if one was in the hospital, having a baby, sick, or hurt the life group would be there for that family by visiting them, praying for them, making meals for them, and taking care of their kids if they have any. The main focus of the life group is to help support one another. Another way our church shows community is through missions teams. A mission team is a group of people who are willing to use their time to serve those outside of the church in the local community and abroad. Locally, this team goes out and supports ministries such as Verity, food drives, downtown events and the Candy Carnival in order to help those with needs in the neighboring community. This affords them the opportunity to show the community that the church cares for them. Thanksgiving dinners, Car Care teams, and the food bank allow the church to live and love like Jesus through meeting immediate needs of others. This team is also involved in global opportunities as well. The mission team supports different ministries in places such as Trinidad and Nicaragua as it provides for the financial and spiritual needs of many. These are just a few ways
