News media is fundamentally the main source of information for many worldwide. A simple yet powerful tool that can shape our values and beliefs. Unfortunately, with this comes various consequences as the media, in many aspects, has biased power. The news item used in this essay is a 2015 piece on Refugees presented by Fox News (The real story of Syrian refugees). The station is recognized for its Republican biased and stereotypical reporting. In addition to this their audience reach and views prove to have consequences for those who do not watch at all. O'Reily performs the bias of the station as he endlessly brings up ISIS each time he references Syria. It needs to be understood that in this time and age many people rely simply news reports for their view of the world. How one presents a news report affects what the audience perceives of it. He constantly emphasises the word terrorists and links them to refugees. With this practice he successfully plants a negative image of Syria within the viewer's mind. Many will not even question the facts as they trust the station to provide them with the correct information.
