Bhagsu Nag Falls
This enchanting waterfall is located in Mcleodganj, at a walking distance from the Bhagsu Temple. Remember how I stressed on the importance of staying near to the place? The beauty of this waterfall increases with the story that is associated to it. Legend has it that a king named “Bhagsu” used to rule that region over 5000 years ago. His kingdom got affected by drought and Bhagsu went on to search for water. His search brought him to a lake that belonged to the serpent king. King Bhagsu managed to collect water from the lake but was not allowed by the serpent king to take it back to his kingdom. So he requested him to let the water flow freely to his kingdom so that the lives of his people could be saved. The serpent king agreed to it and this is how the waterfall got its name-“Bhagsu Nag “. The pacifying feeling you get when you step in the freezing water of the fall is unexplainable.

As a young girl growing up in NYC when I first was afforded the opportunity to see this cathedral I remember thinking how massive and overwhelming this building was, especially when entering through ornately carved archways, massive portals which measure 18 feet high, six feet wide, and weighs three tons and, under the watchful eyes of Jesus Christ. The original Byzantine-Romanesque design was changed to a French Gothic design after the large central dome made of Guastavino tile was completed in 1909. The stone-on-stone construction, using…
