The Bhagavad Gita, written around 500 BCE, is a vital piece of work in the traditions of Hinduism. Charles Wilkins did the first translation from Sanskrit into English around 1785. This was important because the study of Sanskrit lead to the study of many other languages (Bhagavad Gita, ix). After studying Sanskrit, Persian, Greek and Latin, it was found that all these languages derive from Aryan. Studying these languages provide information on how society functioned at that time.

I supported Krishna’s philosophies on actions; however, I did think it had some flaws. I believe we as a society should set aside our own desires and act to universalize the world. People should act out of duty, as Krishna alleged, however it is not wrong if one may also benefit from the action. Learning about Hinduism philosophy and the beliefs on how society should act in making decisions interested me greatly.
