American singer, songwriter, and actress, Beyoncé, was born and raised in Houston. All throughout Beyoncé’s childhood she enjoyed competing in dance and singing competitions. Beyoncé is married to the famous Jay Z. Together they have three children, Sir, Blue Ivy, and Rumi. Beyoncé is an influential advocate of civil rights through her actions including dedicating her work to civil rights, charity work and participating in the black lives matter campaign. “Her “BeyGOOD” initiative will donate $25,000 to one student from four different HBCUs for the 2018-2019 academic school year through her “Homecoming Scholars Awards Program.” (Escano). She will be donating to Xavier University of Louisiana, Wilberforce University, Tuskegee University and Bethune-Cookman University. Beyoncé donated $100,000 worth of scholarships to college.
