3 Reasons Why Beyonce is Overlooked at the Grammy’s
At the 59th Annual Grammy Awards held last February 2017, there were a number of categories where Beyonce and Adele went head to head. Both artists were nominated for song of the year, best solo pop performance, record of the year, and album of the year. However, out of four categories Adele took home the Grammy.
Although Adele’s voice and talent is undeniably great, Beyonce’s Lemonade is certainly one of the most artistic albums of all time. It has a unique compilation of tracks crossing different genres of pure good music. Beyonce did, however, win best urban contemporary album for Lemonade but it is still quite shocking that her work for this album was not recognized. Photo credit:

This was certainly not the first time she was snubbed. During previous award ceremonies, Beyonce also lost the album of the year category to Beck.
Plus, who would ever forget the 2009 MTV Music Video Awards where Taylor Swift won the best female video award over Beyonce where Kanye West rudely interrupted Swift on stage during her acceptance speech? Here are some facts why Beyonce is often overlooked during award ceremonies.
This may sound absurd but it is becoming clear that many black artists are not given much attention even with their enormous voice and talent. Beyonce may be the most popular pop icon of this generation but many of her works are under recognized.

2. Statistics don’t lie.

Based on Beyonce’s records, her numbers appear to raise more questions. It is a fact that she is the most decorated and nominated female artist in the Grammy’s. She received 62 nominations and won 22 awards.

This gives her an average of 35% winning rate. However, compared to other white female artists, this percentage is actually low. Country singer, Alison Krauss, garnered 42 nominations and 27 wins. This makes her twice as likely to win compared to Beyonce.

3. Black artists have a slim chance of winning the top three

Beyoncé takes her personal life, expands it, and leads it into the illustration of the struggle black women face across the United States.…

In Beyoncé performances and lyrics on stage, she always makes a visual and speaks on how it's important to be an individual, your own independent person that is powerful. Although, if women were to be more prominent in the world, life, family and work priories will crash fiercely. As long as women are bearing the children in our species, women will not view child rearing and child care in the same way as men do, and will prioritize the responsibilities around it differently. Beyoncé sings in harmony about how women run the world, but why don't we actually run it, women are capable of so many astonishing accomplishments, but they're all hidden by the shadow of a man. Women deserve to be prominent in the world we now live if it’s what they desire for; it shouldn’t be that hard to treat women…
