My body heat was melting the ice below me. I continued to listen to the conversation around me which had changed subjects. I was not able to make out what it was they were talking about. I fell straight through a hole in the ground. I fell head first and I have never been happier to have such fast reflexes because as soon as I began to fall, I put out my hands and arms trying to find somewhere to grip onto. I stopped when I reached the end if the whole that was leading into the creek and I caught myself on a few large rocks to both sides of me. The grip on my gloves was able to hold on to the rocks.I was hovering over the rocks upside down. I felt the blood rushing into my head and I was holding my grip on the rocks beside me. If these rocks had not been there, I could have possibly been dead. I was so scared at the time and I was in the moment of a near death experience. My brain was a treasure box full of fears. I was crying my eyes out. I was terrified. I was only 8 years old. Of course me being that age I thought I was going to die. I could hear the water beneath me weaving between all of the rocks.
