Do you think these actions are a good way to bring attention to the movement?
Coates: Yes, in order to bring attention to anything these days, people must be assertive and straight to the point. The street blocks and other protests have done what they were intended to do; people bring media attention to the cause, spreading the awareness.
Flores: My final question is; do you believe the Black Lives Matter will change the current discrimination of African Americans?
Coates: I believe the movement will, and has, brought a lot more attention to the continuation of racism. But I don’t think all humans could ever stop discriminating. Sadly, it is part of who we as humans are, and that will never change.
I choose the topic of Black Lives Matter because I believe it is a topic Ta-Nehisi Coates would have strong opinions on.
