Joshua J. Marine. Betty Marie overcame her obstacles in many different ways. Like she ignored the kids who bullied her about her last name, she kept her mind on her career, and she always knows that being an Osage Indian is nothing funny, but something to be proud of.
At first Betty Marie was shy and docile, so she was not able to become famous in her point in life. Then she started ballet and it seemed to have gotten her out of her shell and now she has the dream to want to become a ballerina. She started to focus on her career more than the people judging her for her last name and culture.
Now Betty Marie is at the point where she is a basic ballerina. Yet the problem is that in school she is teased and bullied for having the last name “Tallchief” so no one in the school respects that she is an Osage Indian. She also changed her name to Maria because she thought it sounded sophisticated and she liked the name she picked.
At this point Betty Marie is now called “woman of two worlds” for her success in being a ballerina she changed her name to Maria but never changed her last name. She is proud to be an Osage
Indian and will never change her last name of her family heritage.
This concludes that Betty Marie is a type of person who is proud of who they are and what they are. She is the daughter of an Osage Indian tribe and is proud of it too. Betty Marie went through her life being shy and bullied. Yet it never stopped her in being the ballerina that she wanted to be. She is successful in her career but not just her career. She also succeeded in being an Osage
