William Shakespeare was baptized on April 26th, 1564, in Stratford-upon Avon, England. From roughly 1564 onward he was an important member of the Lord Chamberlain’s Men Company of theatrical players. Shakespeare’s writing, which mostly contain the theme of betrayal and deceit which not only capture the reader’s attention but also the complete range of human emotion and conflict. He uses symbolism, soliloquies and dramatic irony to get the theme of betrayal.
A good example of Shakespeare’s work is Macbeth; the title character goes against his moralities and betrays his country, his king and his loyal friend Banquo. Desdemona betrays her father by going ahead to marry Othello, “She has deceiv’d her father and may thee,” (1 . III . 293). Despite her father being against the marriage , she married Othello without her father’s knowledge or consent. After finding out about Desdemona’s betrayal to her father , Othello leaves Desdemona in the care of “Honest Iago,” .
Iago is the same person that informs Desdemona’s father about her marriage to Othello. He does this for his own benefit thus betraying Othello because he puts Desdemona in even more danger yet Othello had trusted him to take good care of her.
