Bethel University

Prof. Frollis,
Bethel University differs from more recently established "on-line universities" because it was first a college and grew into a university and then added the on-line capability. Bethel University established itself as a well known educational center.
In my personal case Bethel University adds to the credibility of the university and my degree because the P.A.S. program for ministry was first started at Bethel University and was known as the home study program at that time. In addition, the seminary itself was also on the Bethel Grounds in McKenzie, TN. Which is currently the science building. There is a commemorative plaque on the outside wall of the science building. There has been a long connection between the training of ministers especially Cumberland Presbyterian ministers and secular education and Bethel University. However, the seminary moved in the 1960's to Memphis, TN. The P.A.S. program still meets every summer for the in-person, ministry boot camp and then has a ton of homework due at various times throughout the rest of the year. So the history is a major part of why I chose Bethel and how the history enhances the value of my degree.

When I was looking for a college; I knew that my schedule would change - and well it did. It got much busier; but thanks to the flexibility I will be able to multi-task. I knew that there was a possibility with involvement in ministry that I could be called to a state any where in the country or even possibly over-seas and I wanted the ability to continue with my education. Bethel has made all of that possible. I may even continue on to get my masters. Something I am seriously thinking

The true definition of the term 'naysayer' is a person who habitually expresses negative or pessimistic views. This is the way that Caroline Bird looks at college in her essay titled "College is Waste of Time and Money". In this article Bird is very strong willed when stating her opinion about college. She tells her readers that the real reason young adults go to college is because "College is a pleasant place to be; because it's the only way they can get parents or taxpayers to support them without working at a job they don't like; because mother wanted them to go, or some other reason entirely irrelevant to the course of studies for which college is supposedly organized" (247). Bird explains to her readers in a very pessimistic way that going to college to get an education has become very uncommon.…

The online program of Asbury Theological Seminary began as a concept of a new way to utilize the internet and computer technology. Educational institutions had been doing correspondence courses for a very long time, dating back to as early as the 1700s. These kinds of courses relied on the postal service to deliver content and work back and forth from faculty to pupil. In the mid to late 1980s certain institutions began to conceive of ways to use the internet to deliver content to students, speeding up the educational experience and giving more interaction between pupil and faculty. In 1992, Asbury Theological Seminary was urged to consider the opportunity that online learning could give to the students and the institution.…

1.Personal Beliefs: I believe my purpose in life is to tell others about Jesus and why He died on the cross for us. As a human, I must trust and rely on God, and believe that He has a specific plan and purpose for me. Everything that He does has a reason behind it, even if it does make sense at first. One of the many things I have learned growing up in a Christian family, is to live for Jesus and not others. The interesting thing about this school was they had a block schedule, where students took one class at a time for three and a half weeks, and then moved on to the next class. I knew a couple of people who were going to school there, it seemed like a “doable” work load in an environment where I wouldn’t feel lost, and it was set in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee. All of these reasons made this school appealing to me, so off I went in August of…
