Bethel University: An Intertextual Analysis

Decent Essays
Bethel University is a great school to attend, it has a religious background. My relatives are already attending and doing so well. They mentioned that Bethel University would be a great opportunity for me to continue my education. Furthermore, I believe it is a good fit for me because of my support system, that is in place to help me succeed in being successful. Nevertheless, as I finish up with my Orientation class, the confidence is rolling in and I am geared up for the journey ahead.

I must admit there were obstacles to overcome in Orientation class. The APA formatting was a challenge to understand, but you know I love challenges and overcoming them as well. I ran into a couple on grammar road blocks along the way, but I was

After attending Christopher Newport University for two semesters, it is simple to observe the pattern of the way the university conducts itself. From the registrar’s office, to the Trible Library, to the classrooms, and even the residence halls, there is a clear system of assumptions and rules in place for how life is to be conducted on campus. From the first moment one arrives on campus, it is clear that this university is professionally managed with high expectations. These expectations are not just in place for the students, but for the faculty and administration, as well. The way this image is conducted in classes and in practice could be another matter entirely, for how does one measure authenticity in education?…

I just wanted to take the time to thank you for giving me the opportunity to go to John Carroll. I am going to write how I feel I would fit in at John Carroll and not a rehearsed, corny statement: so forgive me if it sounds strange. I think I would fit in well with the serious campus atmosphere. I also think the small campus size and religious attributes fit me quite well. I would be an asset to John Carroll because of my personality and my life choices.…

One of most obvious goals of Bethel University is to “create opportunities.” The idea of creating opportunities refers to how Bethel University offers the means for persons to have choices and options opened before them and to develop the confidence and maturity to choose appropriately. Secondly, one of Bethel University’s most important goals is to support the “learning community.” The learning community refers to all individuals which seek personal, as well as, professional development through Bethel University and the use of higher education. Thirdly, Bethel University is focused on creating an educational environment fit for all students, faculty, and the surrounding community by maintaining a Christian environment, which is both empathetic and supportive of those that choose to participate.…

Dear Brandi, do you remember when you were sitting at work one day listening to Kristy tell you all about how she is attending Bethel University online, and loved it? Do you remember how she told you she only had one class to focus on, that lasted five weeks, or how she only had to turn in an assignment every Sunday and Wednesday night? It seemed so doable to you, and you knew that sounded like the absolute best option for you to improve your life, and not end up being stuck as a debt collector forever. Clearly you were right. You’re now starting on the last week of your first class, and you’ve done great so far!…

I have decided to write why I believe Alma College would be a great fit for me and the future I am planning for my academic and career choices. Living in a small town my whole life, I don't know if I am ready to change my lifestyle by attending a college in a huge city or somewhere extravagant; therefore, I believe that it would be a phenomenal opportunity and experience to go to Alma. The entire area is tremendous and heartwarming, and it reminds me so much of home that I believe it would help with any homesickness I would get while attending there. Another reason why I would appreciate the opportunity to go to Alma is that I would love to continue playing football there. Football is a love and a passion of mine, and I would love to have the…

One challenge I've experienced during my pursuit in engineering and my education as a whole has been AP Calculus AB. Considering I've had high grades in previous maths, I assumed that calculus would not be a problem. However, those previous classes could not have given me a sense of what a college level math class would be like, which I learned very quickly. Calculus has been a surprising taste of what college learning is like. I now know that much of the learning is going to be one's own responsibility.…

This course has been very rewarding; I came into this course not knowing anything about APA format, had poor writing skills, and very little knowledge on courage, caring, and team building. Now at the end of the semester after taking this course I am confident in APA format and I have learned so much about courage, caring, and team building. Being a pre-nursing student this course is very rewarding because you get to see how courage, caring, and team building play a huge role in nursing. I think reading the two books was what I enjoyed most about this course.…

“I never look back, darling! It distracts from the now.” “The Incredibles,” became a special movie for me after seeing it for the first time many years ago. However, what brings me back to this movie as a young adult is this line from Edna Mode that shows a philosophy I try to hold myself by today. With the onslaught of living with a depressive disorder that affects only 11% of adolescents in the US, and the challenges of finding a place to live while helping my single mom with my brother, I find that looking forward is the only thing I can do.…

Entering graduate school, I have personally had mixed thoughts on taking a writing course for my first semester. The increased demand for scholarly writing skills in the healthcare profession allows for improvement in many nursing positions. “Some individuals take to writing easily and with enjoyment”, but “for others the process is quite difficult” (Dexter, 2000). I am one to admit, for me, writing is not effortless. I feel that I have room for advancement, not only with APA formatting, but with writing skills, as a whole.…

Introduction Looking back at my essays from my first semester in Composition I, I can definitely see that I have improved tremendously. My learning from my Composition II was not so much about learning concepts, but it was more about improving what I already learned last semester, and adding onto it. Compared to last semester, my learning this semester came from paying attention to details, following the rules, and adapting to a new teaching style. While last semester, my learning came from new concepts like ethos, pathos, logos and knowing what they are and how they work.…

Through this time at College Wesleyan, I was able to learn things both practical and theological in nature and what to do and not to do when it comes to running a church. Being able to be hands-on these past few weeks has been so great and excites me for my future in the church. Since I was already attending College Wesleyan Church regularly before this practicum began, I wanted to stay and see behind the scenes of the church I was attending. I was able to meet Jordan Rife during New Student Orientation week and express my interest in completing my practicum at College Wesleyan. It was nice to know that she also wanted me apart of her practicum class as well.…

I had adjusted fairly well to each class until my junior year in high school where I took AP biology. This was a completely different class than any I had taken before.…

An event in my life that will influence my academic goals at CCU was the passing of my mother on 09/16/2015. She passed so suddenly that we weren’t prepared, neither mentally nor financially. We didn’t know how we were going to pay for her services but God allowed generous people to be moved to donate to our memorial fund. We reached our goal and then some and it was just so inspiring, I felt God was with me and my siblings every step of the way. When she passed God gave me His peace and allowed me to grieve supernaturally quickly.…
