Through the interview that was conducted, I was able to get a glimpse into the mind of an individual who dealt with various Human Resource tasks for his company. Being a small business owner, he needs to take on many roles in order to keep daily operations running smoothly and successfully. One such role is of a Human Resources manager, who recruits, screens, interviews and on-boards potential employees. Although he stated that it is very rewarding to find an individual who fits into one’s company, it is a long and hard process, especially with a small pool of applicants. I personally have dreams to own and operate my own business, and this interview has given me insight into the Human Resources aspect of that. Hiring an outside individual to work with or for you is a tedious process in which you must screen dozens of applicants for one that you feel shares the same drive and passion. The time and ability needed to analyze resumes is one that not everyone may have, hence the need for outsourcing such tasks. Personally, I think of myself as someone who is able to interview and gauge the quality of candidates quite well. Through some casual conversation questions, I can assess the compatibility and skills of the interviewee. On the other hand, I have to improve my reading and detection skills to see through false statements made on resumes. Moreover, I would have to thoroughly fact check everything on the applicant’s resume, especially if I was hiring for my own…
