Beth Rose Research Paper

In a small town of 1,000 people called Peanut in the state of Iowa, there is a girl the age of 19. Her name is Beth Rose; she is very intelligent, kind, and curious about the world. Beth wants to go to college and live her dream to become a mathematician but there is some obstacles she has to accomplish first. It is currently the year of 1962, the era where women have no rights in the world. Women cannot vote, have minimal rights, they are not allowed in many Ivy League colleges, are not allowed any professional jobs, and are getting poor pay. Beth was an activist herself against these things. She always puts her “foot down” and demands that she will have the rights that they will not give her just because she is a woman. Since she sent the letter, she has been working for the local plant helping the engineers with math and other various jobs. She has given up hope on Princeton until she seen the huge packet from them. Betty was scared to open it since it took them so long but it was a huge packet and maybe that means huge things are in her future; at least that’s how she thought it meant. Once she opened the letter she seen a 10 page written paper of why girls aren’t allowed into Princeton, then there was another 10 page paper of why girls should be allowed to go to Princeton. As Beth continued to read each paper, she became intrigued by what they are saying and how they made each page of the paper relate back to her. At the end of the paper of why girls should be allowed into Princeton it was a two-page acceptance letter to Beth Rose.
