Best practices in general for constructing a good WBS
A work breakdown structure details the activities of a particular task in order to assist and organize the entire project. The best practices for constructing a good work breakdown include detailing only the deliverables and the specific activities. These deliverables should be written as summary tasks of the project. Further, the summary tasks should be broken down to detailed activities because they are usually broad. Also, the detailed tasks should be action oriented, which means that it should not just describe the tasks but instead name the action. This step contributes to shifting the detailed activities into schedules or the upper section of events. Also, it eliminates confusion.

The deliverables have been written as summary tasks and broken down into detailed tasks. The summary tasks are broad explanations of the activities that need to be broken down. The detailed activities are recommended to be at a minimum of two activities. In this assignment, the initiating, planning, executing and the closing sections have more than two activities while the controlling section has only two activities.
The work breakdown structure of this assignment has detailed activities that are action oriented. For example prepare business plan, prepare project charter, write lessons learned are action oriented detailed activities contained in the break down structure of this assignments. The other good practices of break down structure include the work break down structure dictionary. This section elaborates the many activities and assists in tracking them.
One of the good practices that are not used in this assignment is the work breakdown traceability. The work breakdown of this assignment does not have an inbuilt mechanism that can be used to trace the entire group of activities. The work breakdown traceability incorporates a numbering system that selects the important information about a number of scope as well as identifying areas that need upgrade. The user input activity involves altering the variables and shifting the control to the users. The standards and process to be used for installing are documented and communicated to all team members and then the upgrade to windows 7 begins. Afterwards, the project manager develops a test plan that constitutes of the test design, test procedures, incident reports, test cases, and the test summary reports. The team members assigned the responsibility of testing carry out the activity of the entire operating system as well as all departmental applications.
