Some people can resist the persuasive power of the media, but some can change, and it could be for the better or worse. No they are not empty vessels that can be manipulated by the media. They choose if what they see or hear changes them. They have the willpower to stay as they are even if what they hear or see is different, but some just give into it.

There are a couple of weird camera angles. Like the angle from the water looking at Truman on the dock, it makes the audience look where Truman is looking.
