Best Buddies Research Paper

Buffalo State chapters of Best Buddies college mission is to provide an opportunity for college students to be matched in a one-to-one friendship with individuals who have intellectual disabilities. The purpose of Best Buddies campaign is to raise peoples’ awareness of the derogatory use of these words and their negative effects on people with intellectual disabilities, as well as on their families and friends. The campaign also aims to change attitudes of segregation and hate to attitudes of acceptance and respect. Also, to spread the word to end the word. The R-word, retard or retarded, is slang for the term mental retardation, these are the word hurts millions of people around the world. People with intellectual disabilities, their families and friends make them feel unhappy and uncomfortable in the society. The purpose of the campaign is to Buffalo State's Best Buddies and SCEC chapters prefer to focus on people and their gifts and accomplishments, and to dispel negative attitudes and stereotypes.

Everyone is different, but having a disability can make children and teens a target for bullies in the society. Children with disabilities are two to three times more likely to be bullied in our today’s society. Therefore, bullying effect on their …show more content…
If you seeing any one is being bulling people with intellectual disabilities speck up and support them. Make them feel comfortable and acceptable in the society because they to be appreciated for the values they offer as a person, not seen for their disability first. Therefore, it is our job to encourage people to treat others who is different form you fairly, as well as to model them with positive behaviors. Make the change by spreading the words of equability for everyone because we are human and show our humanity in the society by accepting others
