The Pitcher throws the ball… Batter swings…. and the ball is gone! Those are the words that every little kid in Puerto Rico dreams to hear when they grow up. Bernie Williams was fortunate to achieve that dream and play professional baseball for the New York Yankees. I chose to do Bernie Williams because he is one of the players I looked up to growing up playing baseball. He is also a huge role model for all Puerto Ricans and is loved by the whole island. Bernie Williams Played professional baseball for 16 years and amazingly, all 16 years were as part of the New York Yankees organization. Bernie stopped playing baseball in 2006, but did not have a retirement ceremony until 9 years after he stopped playing. He had an audience all around him which made really hard for him to really make eye contact with everyone. although he had an audience all around Bernie did a great job engaging with everyone that was present. The language was simple to understand, there were a few Jargons that only baseball fans and players would understand. Bernie talked with a strong voice that everyone could hear and made some repetitions, but they were all as he was thanking everyone that supported him. there were not many fillers used through out the speech, i caught maybe 3 or 4 but most of the time he would pause and move on to the next topic. Over all the event was a success the Yankees had the “Fab 5” present which which were the 5 most known Yankees of the 90’s and part of the 00’s they were Bernie Williams, Mariano Rivera, Andy Petite, Jorge Posada, and Derek Jeter. The fans got the chance to say goodbye to an all time great player and Bernie got the chance to say goodbye to the game and everyone that was involved in
