He wants to protect the right of being able to abort safely and conveniently. “As president, Sen. Sanders will only nominate Supreme Court justices who understand that Roe v. Wade is the law of the land and recognize the rights of women to have access to family planning services.” (Bernie Sanders). Roe v. Wade was a case woman filed a by a woman named Jane Roe, who wanted to safely and legally end her pregnancy, but Texas law stated that it was unlawful to get an abortion unless the woman is in danger. His support can be found from bills he has voted on and what he has said regarding the issues. “Bernie Sanders has consistently fought against Republican attacks on reproductive rights. If elected president, he would increase funding for Planned Parenthood.” (Huffington Post). Funding for Planned Parenthood is important because it’s a service to women and provides a lot of aid. “plans to expand women 's health programs, and access to safe and legal abortions.” (Huffington Post). A lot of other candidates do not support expanding these services or do not fully support abortion. “Bernie voted numerous times to allow women to travel interstate for abortions, supported permitting federal funding of organizations that conduct abortions, voted to increase access and funding for family planning for women.” (Feel The Bern). Voting on these things are very beneficial for women, all of these different bills that Bernie has voted on are in favor in women and their reproductive rights. Bernie’s opponent spoke out on the issue, “Clinton has also been out front on reproductive rights, but her historic refrain that abortion be "safe, legal, and rare" has only served to stigmatize it and justify conservative efforts to impose legal restrictions.” (Huffington Post). Bernie has not made and any stances on restricting any type of limits on abortion. While this seems minor it makes a huge difference in women’s rights.

Jonathan Glover believes that in the debate about the ethics of abortion, we should look at the moral values in a multi-dimensional way. The current debate has been focused on the life of the fetus and the life of a pregnant woman for too long. Glover believes we should focus on examining the freedom and autonomy of society and people. When we think of oppressive societies such as China and North Korea, it is because they destroy personal freedoms such as the freedom of choice, freedom of speech, and many other fundamental freedoms granted to us by the Constitution.
