Previous damage to the planet cannot be reversed, but future damage could be prevented if the right steps are taken. Sanders recognizes the urgency of the situation, and thinks that real change will not occur unless the conflict is fought on an international level. If action is not taken soon, the planets conditions may be uninhabitable to future generations. To begin to make a positive change, “We need to transform our energy system away from fossil fuel to energy efficiency and sustainable energy” (Landers). As president, Sanders would also invest in the construction of electric car charging stations. This would help to replace gasoline dependent cars, which would drastically reduce levels of carbon emissions throughout the country. He is also a strong leader in the fight against climate change, an issue that could reap serious consequences if not tackled by the right person. As president, Sanders could significantly decrease the amount of Americans living in poverty, by creating millions of jobs and increasing the federal minimum wage. Because he is running against Hilary Clinton, a strong candidate, all of Sanders’ voters should actively participate in his campaign by spreading the word and heading to polls in November for the general election.
