Bernie Sanders Influence On Politics

When someone says “politician”, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? For me, I think corrupt: mostly because of all the media scandals that most of them are involved in. It’s fact that the majority of politicians do not have the best reputation when it comes to honesty or loyalty. Bernie Sanders is the minority in this case. Sanders is now known as the longest serving independent in U.S. congressional history. Being such a successful Mayor of Burlington, Vermont, led him to become an even better representative for Vermont’s at-large congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, Senate, etc.; he has always won because of his popularity votes. By demanding wealthy and large corporations to pay their fair taxes, Sanders is trying to equalize income for citizens, which will hopefully eliminate the poor. The gap between that rich and everyone else is larger than it has ever been, since the 1920’s, according to Bernie Sanders. He plans on fixing the poverty rate by insuring better income. Mr. Sanders plans on raising the wage of $7.25 to $15.00 an hour by 2020. This will promote more of a stable income for most to reduce the gap between the rich and the not so rich. Bernie Sanders says, “Freedom of speech does not mean the freedom to buy the U.S. government”. When Sanders says this, he refers to the rich and the high politicians to pay their rightful dues. He firmly believes that no one should be above the law and that money should not buy anyone’s way up to the presidency. When it comes to politicians, they do not always give you a sense of trust --- but Bernie Sanders is one politician that you can, without a doubt, trust
