Feel the Bern As the elections to determine the next president of the United States draw nearer, the masses are rallying nationwide, attending political debates and public speeches to see which candidate offers them the best promises. Amidst all the candidates there is one man, a man who according to the youth in America: seems to “genuinely care for this country”. This man is none other than Bernie Sanders. Sanders is a great choice because he fights for women’s equity (wage wise), improvements in the way the government approaches climate change, as well as a more affordable college education for all.
Bernie Sanders being the man he is, has a very busy agenda on goals to accomplish, on this agenda women’s rights holds a special spot. Sanders has been a huge supporter of women’s rights for the past years and firmly believes that there should be a change in the wage gap between women and men. In fact, according to an article on feelthebern.org, they mention a document published by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics that states that: “Compared

However, Sanders promises to change this by proposing the Residential Energy Savings Act, which states “ ..to provide funding for energy efficiency financing programs that help homeowners and residents invest in retrofits for energy efficiency.” Essentially, the bill states that the government will help renewable energy companies in helping citizens have easier access to this “green”

On August 9th, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson were walking in the middle of the street when they were approached by a police officer by the name of Darren Wilson. With there being altered stories explaining what happened next rather than choosing one side of the story we can agree that an altercation occurred and it led to the unfortunate death of eighteen year old Michael Brown. Because of the differing stories and videos online, I will not focus on whether I feel like the killing of Michael Brown was justified, but whether the process to indict/or not to indict Officer Darren Wilson was justified and not flawed. Beginning as soon as you read the table of contents of the DOJ report on the Ferguson Police Department…

After looking at both parties positions, I can say I am not surprised by the stances they have taken on the issue represented. For the democrat stances, many of their ideas favoured equality and calling for progress and change on many prominent issues. Such as how Democrats called for "policies and investments in order to keep America's public lands public". On the opposite side of this issue, the Republicans stated that that "our air and waterways are much healthier than they were a few decades ago". This stance from the Republicans shows how their more conservative and traditional views correlate to these stances on the topics.…

Whereas Hillary Clinton’s supporters are more likely to vote along party lines and support whoever holds the nomination in the coming general election, Bernie supporters hold no such ties, as they are predominantly independent and will vote for whoever holds more liberal positions (“Iowa Entrance…”). The lines have already been drawn in the sands by many Bernie supporters, joining under the flag of the Bernie-or-Bust movement. Every single vote that goes towards a third party candidate, which is what Sanders would be at that point, is not going towards the Democratic candidate in the election. Continuing on with this analysis, the Bernie-or-Bust movement truly illustrates how fed up those who identify as strongly liberal are with the run of the mill politicians and that they will not support more candidates that claim to be progressive and follow up with a career of moderate legislation.…
