The play revolves around the use of a single set, the living room of the bachelor Bernard. In order to capture the hilariousness of the comedy, I plan on using a small stage, a single set play set in the living room. The use of multiple entrances into the living room and the rapidity to which the characters come and go generate the timing of the play. That is as much a character Bernard Roberts and the stewardess themselves.
The action of this play will be structured around Bernard timetable of his three beautiful flight attendants. The theme is a classic farce with Bernard and Robert dominating the story as they try to unravel the situation. Another theme is that the women are willing to be deceived by men. In the past, Bernard has been able to juggle the women due to his detailed timetable of their flight schedules. When the situation changes all of the women ended up in his apartment. Bernard struggles to keep them from learning the truth. When it reaches the climax, both Bernard and Robert will look untidy as their anxiety increases, and they start stumbling. The style of the play is going to help produce the effect of a classical farce because the style is comedic with the touch of abstract and satirical. The characters are extraordinary in character. Bernard is a French bachelor who is an architect and he is engaged to three stewardesses at the same time. The character will be portrayed as scheming and loving. Robert is Bernard’s American friend who is single. This character will be portrayed as a person full of self confidence and great at seducing. Bertha, the maid will be portrayed as an exhausted, annoyed and complaining person. She is French. Gloria the American flight attendant for TWA airline is a feminist, rational and have a strong character. Gretchen the German flight attendant for Lufthansa is an honest person and can be easily persuaded and a lovely woman. Gabriella the Italian, flight attendant for Alitalia will be portrayed as a sultry, fiery and passionate woman. The different characters will have an accent corresponding to the nationality. The relationship between the characters would be less romantic but more energetic and lively. The age for the stewardess is going to be 25-30 year old and 30-35 year old for Bernard and
