Theories Of The Bermuda Triangle

Improved Essays
For the past few decades, maybe centuries, many planes and ships have randomly disappeared, and all in the same area - the Bermuda Triangle. One of the biggest disappearances includes Flight MH370. Many have speculated about the cause, or causes. Some of the causes are supernatural, including aliens, Atlantis death rays, and large, giant sea monsters, like krakens. Other theories are completely natural, like methane crystals, large waves, and human stupidity. Most have settled for the theory of methane crystals and rogue and tidal waves. But like many things people don't know about, there is always the question that comes with every theory - what are these theories about?

The first theory, called the Methane Hydrate theory, is about methane

Rogue and tidal waves have the power to destroy ships and planes in seconds. This theory is sometimes called the Large Wave theory. First of all, there are many large zones in the Bermuda Triangle capable of producing rogue waves, most notably the Gulf Stream. These zones are capable of doing these, because their bad weather, including storms and typhoons, change the currents. The currents that hit each other directly stack on top of themselves, and eventually make rogue waves, capable of instantly taking down a ship of a large size. Also, common earthquakes cause tidal waves and tsunamis that can take down a ship or helicopter instantly if made contact with. An earthquake from inside the Bermuda Triangle created a giant tsunami, which ended up being the 1817 tsunami in Philadelphia. The tsunami not only damaged things on the shore, but also went ahead and damaged, if not destroyed many ships that were docked at the shore. Finally, many indications of rogue and tidal waves have been found in the area from the studies of scientists. They have noticed large wave patterns from inside the Bermuda Triangle that could cause the disappearance of ships. I believe this theory is very likely due to the strong evidence given, and also the fact that large waves commonly occur in the Bermuda Triangle. Also, bad weather is common in the Bermuda Triangle, which can make these …show more content…
I wanted to do the Bermuda Triangle because I have known about it for a long time. I never really understood how or what made ships and planes in the Bermuda Triangle sink. So I went ahead and tried to find and adequate reasoning that not only would convince me, but would also convince someone else about what happens in the triangle. Personally, I think the Large Wave theory is more likely than the Methane Crystal theory. This is because of stronger evidence and more often large waves have been seen in person or on sonar in comparison to methane crystals. But even though I think the Large Wave theory is more likely, many theories are available for people to read about, and it will always create speculation for the Bermuda Triangle. And while I believe in the Large Wave theory, and believe it is the most likely theory of the bunch, there is always the fact that someday, someone, somewhere, will figure out exactly what happens in the Bermuda

After reading “Bad Regulations Can Kill: El Faro’s Sinking Is a Tragic Example,” I was astonished at the level of ignorance the author had towards the operation of the merchant marine, and the excessive level of freedom the author took to present such bias and deceptive information to justify their outlandish argument. As a merchant mariner, it was easy to tell when the article came out of left field struggling to prove an unjustifiable opinion. There are nonetheless several focal arguments within the article that, if invalidated, would discredit the entire argument the author tries so desperately to make of repealing the Jones Act of 1920. The first and most persuasive argument presented is the claim that the Jones Act “has made the U.S.-flagged…

A hurricane, by definition, is a tropical cyclone with strong winds spiraling inward and upward and speeds ranging from 75 mph to 200 mph. Hurricanes emerge from the Atlantic basin, which consists of the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, the northeastern Pacific Ocean, and, less often, the central north Pacific Ocean. Most hurricanes follow a similar cycle of development. Some may run their course in as little as a day or as long as a month. They weaken and are transformed into extratropical cyclones after prolonged contact with the colder ocean waters of the middle latitudes, and they rapidly decay after moving over land areas.…

The 17th century marked an Age of Discovery, for both new sea routes and new ways of expressing erotic lust. Poets began to embrace the language of the New World: trade, expansion, possession and sexual desire. Desire became a driving force for exploration of new lands and the human body, resulting in one force overpowering another. Poets including Andrew Marvell used New World language to mask their sexual desires. Marvell’s ‘Bermudas’ takes the idea of faith to a sensual level, using metaphors to uncover a promised Eden and erotic lust.…
