Berlin, which was the capital of Germany, was completely in the Soviets portion (How the Berlin Wall Worked, 2016). The other three countries (France, England, and the United States) found this to be unfair. So the four countries decided to also split Berlin into four sections, even though France, England, and the United States would have to pass through Soviet territory to get to their portion of Berlin. At the time that the Berlin Wall was built, the President of the United States was John F. Kennedy. Kennedy, along with the citizens of East Germany, was also not happy about the building of the Berlin Wall.
