Kensington Market is a culture filled neighborhood in Downtown Toronto that consist of various partly outdoor shops, store and markets. Initially, I was interested by the similarities Kensington had with the markets in Trinidad and Tobago, which where I’m originally from before I moved to Canada. Conversely, there are obviously differences in that majority of the stores in Kensington are partially outside, whereas in the Caribbean all of the market stores are fully outside due to there being hot weather all year around. Moreover, I was most interested with the rich history of the market, especially the old Victorian style building and houses that some of which have been maintained to this day.
