Some studies have shown that berberine has anti-cancer influences by inhibiting hepatocarcinogens. Berberine has been found to cause liver weight loss, c-glutamylTrans peptidase, glutamate pyruvate transaminase and bilirubin, all indications of liver damage caused by NDEA (N-nitrosodiethylamine, a strong hepatocarcinogen). Berberine treatment reduced glutathione-transferase levels in the liver, but only had a light effect on glutathione. Berberine reduces the 20-methylcholanthrene-induced sarcoma in mice, as it increases the lifespan compared to animals and reduces the number of animals with

It has been inserting foreign genes into plants and getting the plants to express those genes in the form of proteins. In the process the bacterium causes the plant cells to proliferate and form a gall or tumour, most commonly at or near the junction of the root and the stem. The crown gall is a neoplastic disease of plants caused by Aqrobacterium.…

As one of the most important organs in the body, the liver performs a wide variety of complex functions such as “filtering blood supply, produces bile, detoxifying harmful substances and delivering it through the biliary tract to the intestines for elimination with other waste” (Smith). As a result of nearly a quarter of the body 's blood being filtered through the liver, cancer cells can metastasize from tumors located elsewhere on the body. This means that more than any other organ in the body the liver is the most vulnerable target of cancer cells that have spread from their original site. Ranking fifth in the world in terms of cancer frequency, liver cancer is one of the most common cancers in humans; an estimated 626,000 patients are diagnosed with the disease each year and the numbers are continuously rising (Buendia). Currently, two types of liver cancer exist: primary and metastatic.…

First, the Berbers migrated to Morocco around the 3rd and 2nd millennia BCE. They were thought to have originated in Asia. Later, the Greeks and Phoenicians devised trading ports on the cost of Morocco, until the Romans conquered. While the Romans were in power, many of the Berbers rebelled and the reaction of the Romans was to cut out their tongues and ship them off to the Canary Islands, where they were later found by the Spanish. The Carthaginians were also in Morocco before the Romans.…

These methods of treatment include chemo-preventive methods and of late natural products and compounds extracted from plants, and other organisms are being used as anticancer agents (Deepa, Samundeeswari, & Nirmala, 2011). Some can halt the growth of the tumor inside our body; some can prevent its spread etc. Today I would like to highlight the benefits of eating pomegranate and its effects on breast cancer. A normal cell has a tendency to divide as many times and then stop by a programmed cell death (apoptosis) when they are no longer needed; however a cancer cell loses its tendency to stop dividing, to attach to other cells, and to die by apoptosis. One of the reasons of breast cancer is the mutation in some genes in our body which are linked to estrogen exposure. Multiple medical treatments have been used so far which were targeted towards the presence of estrogen(ER), progesterone(PR) and Her2/neu receptors on the cancer cells which were used to predict the prognosis of breast cancer treatment.…

For my 20 time project I made Ethiopian food. The reason I chose this is because I have a four year old sister, Piper, who my family adopted from Ethiopia last year, and I wanted to learn more about what it was like there, and also to kind of bring it back for her. Throughout this project, I was hoping to learn more about what it is like there, what they do and how they do it. For my project, I researched a traditional coffee ceremony, I looked up recipes, ingredients, common foods, and special occasion foods. The rest I got from my parents, because they went to get her, and told me what it is was like, and showed me pictures of the things they did.…
