Beowulf's Superhuman Strength

Beowulf is a poem of epic proportions. Beowulf came from his homeland to Herot to help the Danes and king Hrothgar avenge the terror of Grendel. Beowulf had superhuman strength and used his power to gain money and glory from other people. He shows great power and courage when he is dueling with Grendel after, he realizes that weapons are impenetrable to Grendel and his mother. Therefore, the only way he could defeat him was in a hand to hand battle. In that battle, Beowulf managed to tear off Grendel's arm and hangs it from the rafters as a souvenir for all to see. The king knows Beowulf is capable of handling himself with his physical abilities. Through his battles, he shows his capabilities and accomplishments and when the time arose to battle Grendel's mother he refused any and all help because he knew any help would end up dead and he no longer wanted any innocent deaths. He also shows he's courageous in these battles because he doesn't win just one and leave, he wins one and goes on to the others knowing the risks. Nobody else would when there were other ways of handling the situation. He continued his pride filled life even after death when he asked for a barrow to built in remembrance of him on the edge of the ocean and he wanted to be buried with his riches with Wiglaf crowned as the new king of Danes. He to takes pride in himself, when other people summoned for his help and he did his best to fulfill their desires in the most drastic times and measures.
