On average, 3 out of 5 of my friends will always claim that the book is more superior than the movie. Supposedly the book presents additional details about the characters and gives you the opportunity to connect the dots and gain perception. However, in this case, the movie Beowulf and Grendel (Gunnarsson, 2005.) added characters such as the witch, Grendel’s son, and the praised man, to emphasize that the world views from today greatly differ in regard to the complications of understanding the concept of good and evil.
At the beginning of this movie, Gunnarsson displays Grendel as a kid promenading along the lines where the Danes had established their ground with his dad by his side. The little boy saw the Danes kill his father so now he holds them to blame and is why he developed a sense of evil. The aspiration for Grendel’s revenge sparked up after his father was killed before his own eyes. Grendel was a menace to everybody. As a matter of fact, he shows up at places he shouldn’t even be at. For example, there was a point in the movie that he showed up at the same place where Beowulf was and he almost got killed by Beowulf but was able to escape. Later, Grendel sought to get revenge on Beowulf and his men and eventually attacked their location in the middle of the night. Towards dawn, Grendel had killed himself after falling for one of the Danes’ trap. When Beowulf finds where his body is he sees the little boy and connects all the dots. He finally figures out that Grendel was the boy’s father. Beowulf tells Grendel’s son to “be proud,” for having him as a father. He also shows a lot of respect towards Grendel. Beowulf says “sleep Grendel,” to his body lying down. The respect is being shown after he realizes that Grendel was just as human like as he was
