“Beowulf spoke, made a formal boast for the last time: “ I risked my life often when i was young. Now i am old, but as king of the people i shall pursue this fight for the glory of winning, if the evil one will only abandon his earth-fort and face me in the open.”(lines 2510-2515). Which could be Beowulf's final words to his people before he and his men enter the unknown once again. Far into battle Beowulf gets burned with the dragons scorching breath. His men witnessing this get frightened and all but one flee. Wiglaf who stays helps his king defeat the dragon, and along with the dragon dies King Beowulf. Before he dies, The Great Hero final request is that Wiglaf takes over his throne for being noble to him. Night falls and the next day arrives, Wiglaf orders some men to go get the valuables that the dragon was guarding. Then they place them by his grave in memory of their great king. Witness went around his memorial telling his story. Spite Beowulf death meaning no return home, Beowulf's story lives on and it continue being told for many years. Now of days people learn of this Great Hero in their senior english class. There are many versions and translations of his
