Beowulf jumps into the lake that the she-wolf has ruled for half a hundred years. Grendel’s mother soon sees Beowulf and grabs him. Covered in armor, Beowulf is carried by the she-wolf while other monsters watch. She brings him into a battle hall and learns the waters heat couldn’t hurt him. Beowulf swings his sword and hits her in the head and learns no sword could slice her. He finally realizes he can’t hurt her with weapons and decides to use his hands. Beowulf doubled his strength and the she-wolf falls. Quickly, she gets back up and squats her weight on his stomach and stabs him with a dagger. Beowulf survives because of his chain link armor.
