Beowulf Movie And Book Comparison Essay

Improved Essays
This semester in Mrs. Fortson’s English classroom we read four different books, with different perspectives and different characters. After reading the books we would watch the movie and compare the differences in the book and the movie. This helped us better understand the characters and the book by seeing how others interpret these great reads. While reading I felt as if I related to a number of the characters in each book. In a thousand words or more I will explain how I am a character throughout the series of characters in each one of these great books.

During my reading of the book Beowulf I felt that Beowulf and myself shared similar characteristics and relations. Beowulf was young but very strong and ambitious. When everyone doubted

Othello held characteristics that drove him mad. He was a very hopeless romantic and was very naïve behind the woman he loved, Desdemona. He trusted a man that wanted his place as a leader and did everything in his power to get his spot while Othello was blind to the fake. Being that he loved Desdemona so much Iago figured that was his way of making Othello go crazy through manipulating him into believing that Desdemona was unfaithful and was having relations with his most respected soldier Cassio. That soon drove him crazy, which lead to him killing her in the last scene saying that he didn’t want her to do the same to other men. I related to that because such as Othello I believe in love. I feel that everyone should be loved and share love to everyone. With me being young leads people to think I am naïve for saying I am in love but you can’t tell people how to feel. Even though I can get crazy behind my boyfriend does not mean I will kill because I think he is unfaithful. I trust him such as Othello did Iago, the difference between me and Othello would be if I do not see things happen with my own eyes, I will not believe it. I need visual facts and artifacts. I myself have been naïve not because of love but for trusting the wrong

There was quite a bit of noticeable differences between the movie and the book, Beowulf. The biggest difference between the movie and book was that in the book it says nothing about Beowulf having a child. In the movie it shows he knows that the dragon was his son. In the movie, at the end, it shows Beowulf and his son dying together on the beach after fighting. In the book it says he just stabbed the dragon and the sword dispatched of it.…

Beowulf the Epic Poem Not like the movie The epic poem Beowulf was transformed in to a movie in 2007. Although the movie and book share the same title there are more differences than similarities. The poem is about a noble warrior named Beowulf that comes to the rescue of a distressed village whose king is Hrothgar. Hrothgar’s great hall known as Herot is under attack by the evil monster Grendel and then later on Grendel’s mom as an act of revenge. The movie follows the same plot however ends up being subject to the sexual temptations of Grendel’s mom.…

For the most part the movie of Beowulf portrayed his character as they did in the epic, but not for the best. The epic poem of Beowulf gave us this image for this brave, boastful hero. As for Beowulf’s movie, not so much. Most of his characteristics differences in the book versus the movie are minor, unlike the plot. The differences seen in the portrayal of his character are that Beowulf is not as loyal to his men or family, he is not as honest, and he seems more independent in the movie.…

During this journey with reading the book and watching the movie I have found out that there is way more differences than similarities by a long shot. So, how i'm going to start this off is by talking about the similarities and as I go through state the differences in order as the book went. In the beginning of the story the watchman greet Beowulf with a good attitude as also the movie but there is one difference when it comes to him greeting him in the movie. In the movie when Beowulf was greeted the watchman wasn't that impressed with Beowulf if anything he showed hostility a little bit if you ask me. Eventually everybody was use to Beowulf and the welcomed him because he wanted to kill the monster they have that goes by the name Grendel.…

The Movie Beowulf is such a good movie, it gave values, inspiration, and hope in our life. The character of Beowulf is such very different creature from other human and is possessed a lot of talent, skills and a super-natural power that differ from an ordinary person. I`ll learned a lot of things after watching the movie, example of this is the courage and bravery because while Beowulf is fighting against the monster Grendel, he use his ability to fight the monster instead of weapons. “Cooperation evolves, not because it’s “nice” but because it confers a survival advantage.” With this statement Joshua Greene, the author of “Moral Tribes”, speaks about how we as humans work together towards a common interest not because it’s pleasant, but because it’s the only way to get ahead. The way we deal with our problems and interact with others is heavily influenced by our morality. Our morality helps us decide how much trust to put into others and how we can help those around us. Morality is our personal distinction between right and wrong and it is unique to every individual.…

Iago was out to get Othello and Cassio simply because Othello gave Cassio the lieutenant position over Iago. This agitated Iago to the point where all of the jealousy within him caused him to deliberately hurt those closest to him. Due to this, here should be no sympathy for Iago because he is a manipulative villain. He brought the feeling and consequences upon himself because he was not willing to accept Cassio’s superiority to him. He then desired to seek revenge upon Othello for rewarding the better man (Cassio) and manipulated him to go against his wife and to potentially kill Cassio.…

Also, there are writers whose imagination can help them to write every type of literary work, and there are writers that write for many years on the same subject.
